USF Sun Dome officials don't expect Elton John traffic woes for Florence + the Machine

After an otherwise dazzling Elton John show at the USF Sun Dome on Sept. 14 was marred by traffic problems — on opening night at the revamped venue, no less — myriad irritated fans said they'd think twice about heading back to the Tampa arena.

But Sun Dome officials say traffic snarls — coming and going — will not be a problem tonight when Brit alt-rockers Florence + the Machine play there Tuesday night.

"There's a plan in place," said Sara Webster, director of marketing at the Sun Dome. "We're staffed appropriately. I don't see it being a problem."

The venue recently underwent $35.6 million in renovations. The joint looked superb on opening night— that is, once the 10,000 or so ticketholders managed to actually get inside.

Fowler Avenue was gridlocked before the show, as were great swaths of the college campus. And it took some people an hour to leave campus after the show.
