Give the top three beauty products of 2013 a try

Published Jan. 10, 2013

A few years ago I started counting how many beauty products I had actually tried. Several years later, at about 10,000, I stopped counting. And while you won't find me complaining about being a beauty guinea pig, there are occasional downsides. The upside, however, is being among the first to know about the best in beauty. Always happy to primp and tell, this week, I've rounded up a few of my favorite products to bring into the new year.

Multitasking magic

A relatively small list of organic ingredients contained within a cylindrical carton made from biodegradable, recycled paper combine in a multi-use product that I've been hoarding for the past several months.

Called Skin Fare, this multitasking skin salve, made by a North Carolina company called CoCoChi, can be used on arms, face, hands, etc. and it's crafted from 100 percent USDA-certified organic ingredients.

I've been using mine as an eye makeup remover and as an eye cream and as a cuticle softener and as a dry skin stopper. It's one of the few things worth packing for any trip or throwing in any bag. Get it for just less than $10 at skinfare.com.

Peeling paint

This is not your typical nail polish remover. Cutex's Advanced Revival is a patent-pending formula that combines the strength of acetone with the nourishing power of natural botanical drying oils. Rather than stripping nails, nails are strengthened with each use of this product. If you are a frequent nail painter (and remover) and your nails are weak or peeling, this polish remover will make a huge difference in the condition of your nails. Get it for $2.99 at local drugstores.

Copper care

I've been infatuated with the Blue Copper 5 line from Osmotics since I was introduced to it early in 2012.

This particular Osmotics line has earned countless accolades, including being a multiple winner of Allure's Best in Beauty Award. Osmotics Blue Copper 5 has also earned my personal seal of approval. The efficacy of the collection is based in copper peptide technology developed initially for wound care. The Blue Copper 5 collection combines copper with collagen to protect skin from the signs of aging. Osmotics products are all non-comedogenic and this line is ideal for all skin types.

For those who want to skip trying the 10,000-plus products that didn't make the cut, ring in the new year beautifully with these three beauty musts.
