The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is one of the most anticipated movie releases of 2013. But the appeal goes well beyond discovering what happens next to Jennifer Lawrence's character, Katniss. Beauty and style lovers will no doubt be devouring the looks and trends highlighted in the movie as Katniss gets all dolled up for her winning Capitol tour.
And while the movie doesn't open until Nov. 22, CoverGirl launched a luxurious makeup line inspired by the film on Oct. 1. The collection includes nine vivid metallic nail-polish hues, six "Smoochies" lip glosses, Flamed Up Mega Curl mascara and nail stickers. Plus, for those in need of looks inspired by the movie and the cosmetic collection, CoverGirl.com is featuring 12 looks, based on the book's 12 districts, throughout October.
From Big Screens to CC Creams, Giorgio Armani Beauty has launched the first CC product for lips called Rouge Ecstasy CC Lipstick. For those who now eschew foundation for CC cream, your lips, like your face, may soon be breaking up with lifelong loves in favor of something pricier … as in $34 a tube.
Unlike CC creams, the "CC" in Armani's lipstick line stands for "color and care." Rouge Ecstasy CC Lipstick boasts a proprietary formula that, according to the company, helps strengthen and repair lips while imparting them with color — 36 of them, in fact — and shine. Choose from 36 shades, designed to slick on with the comfort of a lip balm yet last like a lipstick, at Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's locations.
Once you've nailed this season's bold lip, it may be time to update your manicure to something more dramatic. Manicurist Deborah Lippmann is known for her high-end lacquer collection and extensive list of celebrity clients; think Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Lady Gaga. Last month, in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Broadway show Wicked, Lippmann launched a limited-edition polish collection inspired by Wicked's Glinda, Elphaba and the Emerald City. The shades include "Popular," a glistening pink with shimmer; "Defying Gravity," an emerald green lacquer with a creme finish; and "One Short Day," an emerald glitter. Get the three-shade set for $29 at Sephora locations or online at deborahlippmann.com.
More makeup magic hit the shelves recently via celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury and her new, eponymous makeup collection. Tilbury, whose clients include Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham and Penelope Cruz, recently launched a 100-plus piece line including "Magic Cream," an instant, face-saving cream that is based on a family recipe decades in the making. And, thanks to Tilbury's new makeup range, you won't need a witch, good or bad, to look like a new woman. The line features a wardrobe of 10 ready-to-wear makeup looks to choose from, like "The Bombshell," "The Vintage Vamp" or a look even Katniss would approve, "The Ingénue."
