Look good on the go

Vacations have the potential to be blissful, if you pack well. From quick holiday day trips to lingering winter getaways, hitting the road can be oh-so-serene or incredibly stressful. All too often, the difference has more to do with what you pack (or forget) than where you are headed. Here are some of the prettiest and most portable products no chic traveler should do without.

Get your fix

Thanks to an ingenious product line called "Beauty Fixation" by Japonesque, traveling is no longer an excuse for sporting messy manis, raccoon eyes, bushy brows, rough cuticles and the like. That's because this line of portable swabs, $5 for 24, comes in six different treatments, including Makeup Remover, Tinted Lip Conditioner, Lipstick Touch-Up, Nail Polish Touch-Up, Cuticle Conditioner and Pre-Tweeze Treatment. Simply snap the end of the swabs — akin to Q-tips filled with your product of choice — and the treatment within is easily applied. Shop the collection online at beautyfixation.com.

SET THE TONE

Whether your holiday getaway is likely to be rejuvenating or nerve-racking, choose your mood with Life Therapy's Pulse Point oil perfumes. These 0.2-ounce roll-on fragrances, $38 each, are alcohol-free, full of sunflower seed oils and packaged in diminutive glass vials that promise "no threat of spillage." But it's the variety of fragrances, and their mood-altering properties, that had me hooked at first scent. Choose from Vacation, Escape, Chill, Play and Flirt. Shop the collection online at lifetherapy.com.

Travel green

No need to leave your eco-friendly ways behind when you travel, thanks to a bevy of products for even the greenest of voyagers. Eco-chic, travel-sized products now abound, making finding organic or all-natural products much easier than choosing which ones deserve a spot in your satchel.

Beecology's four-pack of grooming musts has 1-ounce versions of some of my favorite products, including their sulfate-free shampoo, natural conditioner, body wash and body cream. Plus, the set sells for an affordable $6.99 online at beecology.com and comes in a choice of scents: Grapefruit and Lemongrass, Lavender with Bergamot or Peppermint and Honey.

Another favorite is Brittanie's Thyme, a USDA-certified organic collection available in a must-have travel set that sells for just $15 and includes all you need to travel pretty.

The "Mindful Beauty Travel Set" features Organic Citrus Facial Cleanser, Organic Everyday Moisturizer, Organic Balancing Toner, Organic Night Time Restorative Serum and French Green Clay with Organic White Tea.

Exotic grooming

No need to travel internationally to vacay like a Gossip Girl. Thanks to Phytomer, a luxury bath and body collection from France, even a quick trip to Aunt Sally's for turkey, pie and green bean casserole can seem exotic. Phytomer, which means "plant of the sea," calls upon seawater, seaweed and seaside plants in creating its marine-based skin care collection, which is readily available in TSA-approved travel sizes.

I love Oligomer Pure, $9 at lespausa.com, an individually wrapped seawater bath that brings the body back to balance while on the go, as well as Seaweed Soap, $8, a 100 percent natural body cleanser and exfoliator. And should you be lucky enough to end up in the South of France, or some other shore-side destination, travel sizes in Phytomer's Acti-Gene Contour Cellulite-Reducing Bi-Gel and Beautiful Legs Blemish Eraser Cream promise to keep legs looking paparazzi ready.
