Three fashion-forward looks for fall

Everyone who is anyone is advising you what to wear this fall. And while I wouldn't dream of telling you how to dress, I've gathered up an at-a-glance guide to my favorite fall looks — a few of which are sure to inspire you.

Look No. 1: Femme Fatale

Here's what you'll need: a high-waist pencil skirt, a ruffled blouse, red pumps and a zebra-print bag. Oh, and attitude — lots of it.

Opt for a well-made skirt because this high-waist look will be a staple in your fall wardrobe. It's ideal paired with everything from silk blouses for work to sparkling tank tops for night and classic red pumps, of course. If ruffles seem hard to wear, pick a style that is super simple such as BCBG's delicate pima-cotton ruffle tee ($68 at Nordstrom.com). Those who can take the attention should complement the look with a zebra bag, a look recently seen on Heidi Klum and Hilary Duff. At $3,300, Christian Dior's Zebra Jazz Flap Bag isn't intended for the faint of heart — or wallet (NeimanMarcus.com). There are more affordable options, such as Dooney & Bourke's Zebra Tote ($175 at Dooney.com).

Look No. 2: Purple Reign

It seems that every designer voted for this haute hue for fall. Don't sport a purple shirt, skirt and shoes! Do accent your look with purple accessories only to avoid a quick fall from grace.

I adore Dior's Gracefully bracelet in violet jade cabochon and beads; a small luxury that won't completely break the bank at $225 (Dior.com for retailers). Another favorite is Juicy Couture's Smocked Velour Satchel in a shade called Social Circus ($225 at Nordstrom.com). Or splurge on Fendi's FF Logo Cuff; $265 at Net-a-porter.com. I'll opt for a purple purse this season, a la Jessica Alba, who's been wearing her purple Chloe all over the West Coast. Don't have thousands to spend? Head to Baghaus.com and pick up the Nicole Lee Slouchy Chain Link Handbag for a mere $62.

Look No. 3: Rock Star Chic

This season's look is sophisticated yet edgy. To get it, you'll have to be prepared to rock a pair of skinny jeans. I'm enamored with a denim collection called Rich & Skinny — if only it were so easy — that has been spotted on Ashlee Simpson, Beyonce, Vanessa Minnillo and Jessica Biel. The "Super Skinny" is unforgiving while "Sleek" is equally hot but more wearable; both are $145 at richandskinnyjeans.com.

Pair these denims with an ombre pump, such as "Josette" in Grass Degrade Patent from the Jessica Simpson Collection ($79 at Zappos.com), and an Ice It by Bebe Z tee, studded shirts created by Tampa Bay designer Bebe Ziegler, and you've got a look that's sure to command attention.
