Barnacles sports bar to close in Brandon

Barnacles, a Brandon sports bar known for its 450 televisions, is closing after 15 years. Its last day is Thursday. The bar at 926 Providence Road has been a longtime hangout for sports fans and late-night clubgoers but recently struggled to compete as similar businesses opened. Lee Roy Selmon's opened last fall on nearby Causeway Boulevard, and in May Zapps opened at 2016 Town Center Blvd. Restaurant employees, who had been looking forward to the start of busy football season, were notified of the closure on Sunday.
