TAMPA — Champps Americana, a sports bar and restaurant, has closed at Bay Street in International Plaza.
The sports bar had been at the mall for more than a decade, outliving other Bay Street restaurant concepts such as Profusion, Kahunaville and the Bamboo Club. It closed Feb. 19, a few months after its parent company, F&H Acquisition Corp., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Based in Wichita, Kan., Champps has about 40 restaurants nationwide. Its only other location in Florida is in Fort Lauderdale, according to the company's website. Other locations have closed abruptly in recent weeks.
A spokeswoman said the mall had no announcement yet about a new tenant to take over the space.
