Chef Jeanie Roland of the Perfect Caper in Punta Gorda is a James Beard semifinalist again this year for best chef in the South. Coincidentally, Times food editor Janet Keeler ate at the restaurant this week and proclaimed her meal "pretty darn perfect." Roland's shtick is lots of organic, seasonal food with a touch of Asian. Another nearby chef who made the semifinalist list is Jose Martinez of Maison Blanche in Longboat Key.
