Video: It's National Cheeseburger Day, and you don't have to spend $5,000 on this burger(w/video)

Americans eat nearly 50 billion burgers a year, but today is National Cheeseburger Day.

Adding cheese to hamburgers became popular in the late-1920s to mid-1930s, and there are several competing claims as to who created the first cheeseburger.

One of the most expensive burgers available in the U.S. is served at the Fleur in Las Vegas. Check out some more fun facts about the cheeseburger in the video above.

LOOKING FOR A DEAL?

Burger 21's locations in Carrollwood and New Tampa are offering buy-one, get-one free cheesy burgers all day.

BurgerFi, which has locations in Seminole and South Tampa, is offering $5 burgers all day if you mention the Facebook post below.

And nationally, Applebee's burgers that normally run $9 to $12 are discounted to $6.99 at all locations, just for today.
