Crabby's Bill's opening in former St. Petersburg Bennigan's

Restaurant openings

Crabby Bill's is poised to expand its empire, moving into the space vacated in 2008 by Bennigan's (9900 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg). Target opening date is Feb. 15.

"We're excited about the location. As Bennigan's, it was a long-standing location for lunch, cocktails and late night. We think it's great because it's so close to our market we already serve, and we think that we can do a very good job here. We intend to do a lot here with lunches and we are going to borrow from the Indian Rocks Beach location and serve the complete menu until 1:30 a.m. daily," says owner Matt Loder Sr.

Leatherbacks (15000 Madeira Way, Madeira Beach) will become Rad Finz Casual Coastal Cuisine & Longboard Bar. To celebrate the imminent change, the restaurant has donated a display turtle to Tampa Bay Watch, which will use the turtle at its marine education center.

Flowers for Valentine's

Paciugo Gelato & Caffe (300 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg) launches three flower-infused gelato flavors for Valentine's Day, offered until Feb. 14: rose gelato, violet gelato (try it with pannacotta and tre vaniglie) and a vanilla lavender.

Become an ambassador

On April 29, AIDS Service Association of Pinellas Inc. joins restaurants and AIDS Service Organizations across the United States and Canada for Dining Out for Life. Participating restaurants will donate 25 percent of their agreed day's revenue to participating ASOs as part of Dining Out for Life. A Restaurant Ambassador chooses a participating restaurant to host by getting as many people as possible to dine there on that evening. Call Pedro Donato at (727) 328-5518 to become an ambassador.
