New restaurant coming to Tampa
The Crowne Plaza at 5303 W Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa has just sprouted something interesting: a tiny building has been appended to the front of the hotel, a sign for "Mojito" going up recently. Despite some setbacks, the hotel aims to open this tapas-style Latin restaurant/nightclub at the end of November. Opening in 2009 after a $30 million renovation, the Crowne Plaza has an existing lobby restaurant called Mezzo that will continue operation after the opening of Mojito.
Restaurant openings in Pinellas
El Metate Mexican Grill has opened on the second floor of the suddenly booming Plaza Courtyard (at the site of what was once Zapata's). The owners have another venture, Hacienda Mexican Grill, in Clearwater.
And in Oldsmar, Monday unveiled the new Rumba Bar & Grill at 3687 Tampa Road. It's a second location of the concept launched in Clearwater by Baystar Restaurant Group (Salt Rock Grill, Island Way Grill and Marlin Darlin Key West Grill), its Caribbean concept boosted by the fresh seafood of owner Frank Chivas' fleet of dayboats.
