PDQ, the new fast-casual chicken-tender concept from Outback Steakhouse co-founder Bob Basham, opened Sunday across from Plant High School at 2207 S Dale Mabry Highway. Its official ribbon-cutting is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn doing the honors. For more information, go to

Pizza coming to Clearwater

Grimaldi's Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria is coming to Westfield Countryside mall mid December. This is the fourth Grimaldi's to open in Florida in the past year. Grimaldi's, which ranks high among chain pizzerias on websites such as, has 21 locations including its flagship stores in New York City and locations in Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Florida.

Opening in Sarasota

Sean Murphy, owner of the much ballyhooed Beach Bistro in Anna Maria Island, which opened in December, opens his second Eat Here on Wednesday. The second outpost of the more casual concept will be a much larger restaurant in the space that was previously Esca and Enjoy! at 1888 Main St. in Sarasota.
