Bruce's Chicago Grill, 7733 Ulmerton Road, Suite 3, Largo, (727) 524-1146

"Bruce has a great selection of dogs and toppings, but personally his best is the quarter-pound Hebrew National all-beef kosher dog, grilled, not steamed. Great snap on the initial bite, great flavor and enough dog to really hold you over. And though Chicago fans may not be pleased, skip the salad on your dog, and just go with sauerkraut, mustard and onions. The one negative is the relish in an unnatural shade of green and is best left off the dog." Mick Levanon, Clearwater

Coney Island Hotdog Factory, Westfield Countryside, 27001 U.S. 19 N, Suite 2096, Clearwater, (727) 796-1079

"The dogs are from New Jersey but taste like Michigan, where I am from. I love Coney Island dogs, and these are good ones. The chili is great and the hot dogs thick-skinned. You can have it your way with toppings. My mouth is watering for one right now." Nancy Suzor, Oldsmar

Latest Scoop, 14461 Walsingham Road, Largo, (727) 593-0924

"My choice for wiener king is Latest Scoop. They serve Zweigle's red hots and white hots from Rochester, N.Y." Linda Ellingwood, Largo

Philthy Phil's, 678 75th Ave., St. Pete Beach, (727) 367-9977

"For the best hot dog, one that includes great entertainment from the bartender, Tess, try the 'Bar Dog' at Philthy Phil's. It is large, delicious and inexpensive, just $2.99." Maggie Carney, St. Pete Beach

Randy's Hott Dogg Heaven, 32400 U.S. 19 N, Palm Harbor, (727) 781-3647

"My vote is a small stand in north Pinellas tucked behind the Shell gas station at Tampa Road and U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor. This place is the best, hands down: genuine Chicago dogs any way you want them and Italian beef that keeps the place busy. But it's always worth the wait." Michele Cotter, Palm Harbor

Yummy's, 2914 Beach Blvd. S, Gulfport, (727) 321-9869

"Really a taste of Chicago in artsy little downtown Gulfport on the main drag. Besides the authentic hot dog, they offer Italian beef, Italian sausage, Polish sausage and other deli items. It's a great little place, friendly and appreciative, with great service." John Jenkins, St. Petersburg
