Jannus Landing may have changed its name to Jannus Live, but some things will never change — namely, Tampa Bay's thirst for country music and classic Southern rock.
Jannus Live will officially reopen with live concerts on March 25-28, according to online reports, which falls in line with expectations that the venue would be ready around the time of the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
Pollstar.com is reporting that .38 Special is the first national act booked at Jannus Live on March 26. You know, Hold On Loosely … Rockin' Into the Night … Caught Up in You … those guys.
And on Saturday, March 27, there's an even bigger name coming in: country singer Gretchen Wilson, whose hits include Redneck Woman and Here for the Party. Both concerts are taking place under the banner of "Bill Edwards Presents," the promotions company run by Jannus Live co-owner Bill Edwards.
There are two more events booked for Jannus Live that week. On Thursday, March 25, the venue will officially reopen with a free concert by local artists, including Greg Billings Band, Tom Gribbin and the Saltwater Band and Gale Trippsmith.
And on Sunday, March 28, there's a post-race party with Miami celebrity DJ Irie, who has performed at Super Bowl parties and toured with Jamie Foxx.
Jannus Live officials confirmed all four shows, but declined to offer further details. There's no ticket info just yet, but expect it to be posted at JannusLive.com later in the week.
