Did you see Harry Pothead?
The U.K.'s Daily Mirror is shocked by apparent evidence that Harry Potter stand-in Daniel Radcliffe (gasp!) smoked what the experts call a "marijuana cigarette" at a party. The Mirror already used "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's STONED," so we have to give 'em credit there. Not only was he puffing on a big ol' spliff at the North London shindig (thrown by sorta girlfriend Laura O'Toole), but a female friend started drawing a mustache on his face. The 20-year-old then started saying "I love weed" to anyone who would listen. "Daniel was laughing and seemed to find it funny. But he didn't really look like he knew what was going on," partygoer Wadia Tazi told the paper. "I was surprised by his behavior. He is a kids' favorite. I'm not sure what his fans will make of it." Tough call, but we're sure the anti-wizard folks will make plenty of it. Don't you know that magic causes you to do the drugs??!? No 20-year-old has ever smoked a joint without the influence of sorcery!!!
'Charlie's Angels' is back
The deadly remake virus sweeping Hollywood has reached into television, past the 1980s (re: V) and into the '70s, where Charlie's Angels is the latest victim ready to be ruined for prime time, Variety says. Weren't the movies bad enough? The 1976-81 Aaron Spelling series will be adapted for ABC by Josh Friedman, the guy who was responsible for the ill-fated Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. So, he obviously knows how to modernize a classic franchise, right? Original Angels producer Leonard Goldberg and movie-version star and producer Drew Barrymore are on board to lend a hand (and some cash). Why not just run the originals with a new sound track? The fashion is back in style. The kids would never know. Maybe this version will have the same fate as a failed 2004 bid, but we doubt it: those angels are very resourceful.
Crawford cries extortion
Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber were victims of a $100,000 extortion scheme centering on a photo of their 7-year-old daughter, People reports. The photo was taken by the kid's nanny. The pic shows the child "in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged," according to court papers filed Thursday in U.S. District Court by the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office. The kid says the nanny took the photo as part of a "cops and robbers" game. An acquaintance of the nanny, male model Edis "Eddie" Kayalar, 26, threatened to sell it. He hasn't been arrested: He's been deported to Germany and charged with extortion. The nanny has not been charged. "Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph," Crawford rep Annett Wolf said in a statement.
