Head south for Sarasota Orchestra Association Designer Showcase, Jewels on the Bay home tours

We're entering the spring season of show houses in the bay area and beyond. Most are fundraisers, and all are great sources of design ideas you can incorporate in your home. • We kick off this weekend with the Sarasota Orchestra Association Designer Showcase, which had a unique feature: star power. It's staged at the home of the LPGA's Paula Creamer. • Jewels on the Bay, which benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and Manatee counties, is a two-home tour on Longboat Key.

>> The Sarasota Orchestra Association 35th annual Designer Showcase

When: The home, being shown in partnership with Gibraltar Homes, is open from Saturday through March 7. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Where: 5510 Inspiration Terrace, overlooking Legends Bay in west Bradenton.

Tickets: $25 at the entrance and various Sarasota area locations. Group rates are available by calling (941) 955-9899. Tickets are nontransferable and can be used for multiple visits before the show house closes. Proceeds benefit the Sarasota Orchestra and youth orchestra programs.

Of note: The home belongs to LPGA star Paula Creamer. . . . Each day will include a special activity: Solution Sundays will feature low-cost home-improvement projects presented by Lowe's, Makeover Mondays will focus on kitchen and bath makeovers by Allikriste Fine Cabinetry & Kitchen Design and so on.
