Here is another in an occasional series of posts shining a spotlight on local amateur photographers whose work appears in the Tampa Bay Times.
Today we're featuring Jeanne Conrad from Homosassa, FL. We invited Jeanne to submit a sampling of her photography, along with a short write-up, both of which you will find below.
"I have always loved animals, and the first pictures I took many years ago with my Brownie camera were related to things in nature. For the last 25 years I have enjoyed volunteering at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park here in Homosassa, and many of my amateur pictures were taken there. I'm never without a camera, usually a Nikon digital one with a zoom lens. The many animals that have been rescued by the park provide a great opportunity for photography, but one of the wonderful surprises here at the spring is the water itself! Photographers will find the reflections show up beautifully and in many different ways: spring leaves show up very bright green, the sky reflects an intense blue, and the yellow sand not only shows up gold but also helps make the water look an unbelievably bright red when there is tannin present."
