Amateur photographer spotlight: Jon and Nancy Crawfurd, Gulfport, FL.

This is another in an occasional series of posts shining a spotlight on local amateur photographers whose work appears in the Tampa Bay Times.

Today we are featuring Jon and Nancy Crawfurd, a talented couple from Gulfport, FL. We invited them to submit a sampling of their photos, along with a short write-up, both of which you will find below.

"Nancy and I have been married for 11 happy years. Both of us have taken pictures as long as we can remember, but mostly to chronicle family and personal events. That's still a big part of our lives, but now that we're both retired, we carry cameras to record our walks around the Tampa Bay area and our trips around the country. We both like to keep it simple and stick to an advanced level of point-and-shoot cameras (Nikon Coolpix and Canon Powershot) with a heavy reliance on the cameras in our smart phones, as they are always convenient. We both place technique above the technical side of photography, but a faithful record of the remembrance is most important."
