First, a dog was found paddling 2 miles offshore in Tampa Bay. The phone number associated with her microchip led nowhere, but at least she was rescued and warm.
We learned more (and the ending moved more toward happy).
Then we found out that before Baby (renamed Gracie) was found in Tampa Bay, she'd had a loving owner. And our hearts melted.
And the Internet responded accordingly.

There were dogs, so many dogs, in pirate costumes. (Yay!)
It got cold and everyone needed a sweater!
Even some manatees had to cuddle up for comfort.
It wasn't all dogs. We had a baby polar bear, too. His first steps were captured on video, along with an answer to a question we didn't know we had: What does the polar bear say?
A new baby panda also met his public.
Finally, two besties showed us the meaning of friendship. (You stick together, no matter what.)
