Comic Jon Stewart's award-winning news satire The Daily Show will tape a week's worth of episodes at the David A. Straz Jr. Center in Tampa during the Republican National Convention in August.

The show distributed all tickets for the tapings within an hour of announcing the shows Tuesday. Fans signed up for free admission to the shows, which will air on Comedy Central at 11 p.m. from Tuesday, Aug. 28, to Friday, Aug. 31, through the program's website, thedailyshow.com.

The shows are expected to feature reports from the convention floor at the Tampa Bay Times Forum by the show's news team, including Tampa-raised correspondent Aasif Mandvi, along with Samantha Bee, Wyatt Cenac, Jason Jones, Al Madrigal, John Oliver and Jessica Williams.

The time of the tapings isn't confirmed yet, but it will probably be about 6 p.m. — the time they currently tape in New York.

The Straz Center is located blocks from the convention hall at 1010 North W.C. MacInnes Place in downtown Tampa.

"We look forward to enjoying the beaches and the exciting nightlife," said Daily Show executive producer Rory Albanese in a statement about visiting the Tampa Bay area. "Plus we assume this counts as a visit to our grandparents."
