On TV this week

24, 9 p.m., Fox President Taylor pressures CTU for some progress, while Fox pressures the writers for a storyline that makes a little more sense. Both are sure to be disappointed this season.

Intervention, 9 p.m., A&E A woman battles alcoholism, a blood clot on her brain and leukemia. Convincing her she shouldn't just keep drinking has got to be a tough job.

Hoarders, 10 p.m., A&E The second half of our depression double feature has two sisters trying to keep Adult Protective Services away from their hoarder mother, whose house is so full of junk that she can barely move. On Intervention they'd call those two enablers.

The Millionaire Matchmaker, 10 p.m., Bravo Patti touts her new client, Jason Davis, as a tabloid fixture. We will pay a shiny new $1 bill to the first person who has any idea who this rich jerk is without looking it up.*

A Traveler's Guide to the Planets, 10 p.m., NatGeo Wait, Pluto was demoted from being a full-fledged planet. Perhaps they should change the name of this show.

SERIES FINALE Paranormal Cops, 10:30 p.m., A&E As this series draws to a close, the team has yet to find incontrovertible evidence ghosts exist. Worst. Detectives. Ever.

XXI Winter Olympics, 8 p.m., NBC The Flying Tomato tries to win gold in the men's halfpipe while Apolo Anton Ohno tries to get one in the 1,000-meter short track to go along with his Dancing With the Stars trophy.

Human Target, 8 p.m., Fox Eh, forget about the Olympics and watch this mindless actioner as the gang tries to break into a high-rise to rescue somebody.

Shear Genius, 10 p.m., Bravo The contestants have to put hair extensions on men. Then those men need to be slapped in the face.

XXI Winter Olympics, 8 p.m., NBC Evan Lysacek, Jeremy Abbott and Johnny Weir try to redeem an abysmally medal-less Turino Games by strutting their stuff in men's figure skating tonight. Do not embarrass us again, male figure skaters!

Past Life, 9 p.m., Fox A man and a woman share the same regression episodes, revealing they were star-crossed lovers who keep rediscovering each other in subsequent lives. Yeah, we saw Dead Again, too.

The Real Housewives of Orange County, 10 p.m., Bravo Everyone tells Vicki just what they think of her. If only there were an audience participation segment.

Kitchen Nightmares, 9 p.m., Fox Three owners of the same restaurant turn to Gordon Ramsay for help. His advice: Kill two of them.

SERIES PREMIERE The Ricky Gervais Show, 9 p.m., HBO Office creators Ricky Gervais and Stephan Merchant star in a cartoon series about their conversations with pal Karl Pilkington. It's like Charlie Murphy's segment on the Dave Chappelle Show, but not.

SEASON PREMIERE The Life & Times of Tim, 9:30 p.m., HBO Some guys at an Ybor City bar told us to check out this show, which is returning with 10 episodes. Okay, we'll give it 10 chances, but that's it.

* Actually, we won't pay you $1. Sounds good, though, doesn't it?
