On TV this weekend
SEASON FINALE Who Do You Think You Are?, 8 p.m., NBC Ashley Judd moves past the Naomi and Wynonna thing to find out she had an ancestor who (gasp!) fought for the Yankees during the War of Northern Aggression.
SERIES PREMIERE CMT's Next Superstar, 9 p.m., CMT Another American Idol clone, featuring 10 folks who want to be stars in both country and western music. They're twice as talented as the rest!
SERIES PREMIERE The Haunted, 10 p.m., Animal Planet A show about paranormal activity on a network that's supposed to be exclusively about animals. The scariest part is how the honchos decide to program these channels.
SEASON PREMIERE Outrageous Food, 10 p.m., Food It's like Travel's Man vs. Food, but without the host's grotesque attempts at actually finishing the challenges himself. Must be an insurance thing.
SEASON FINALE Merlin, 10 p.m., Syfy The magician is confronted by the appearance of a rival telling his same story. Wait, no, that's Camelot on Starz.
SERIES PREMIERE Tiger Man of Africa, 10 p.m., NatGeo Some guy took two tigers from the zoo to a big cat reserve in Africa. Don't worry, he's not in any danger; it's not like they're chimps or anything.
Ferocious Planet, 9 p.m., SyFy An experiment lets people see other dimensions and traps them in an alternate reality. It's sort of like the old '80s flick H.P. Lovecraft's From Beyond, but without all the gore and nudity.
Colin Quinn Long Story Short, 10 p.m., HBO We thought he'd never recover from his post-SNL drought, but here he is. Gotta give him credit for that.
SEASON PREMIERE Oddities, 10 p.m., Science To kick off the year, here's a book that may be bound in human skin. Publishing really does cost an arm and a leg these days.
Saturday Night Live, 11:30 p.m., NBC The British Invasion continues after last week's visit from Elton John. What are the chances Tom Hanks could randomly show up this week, too?
SEASON FINALE Secret Milllionaire, 8 p.m., ABC This pablum to fool you into thinking rich people care about you comes to a close. We suggest trying a Trading Places-style format next year.
SERIES PREMIERE My Future Boyfriend, ABC Family As in, the boyfriend is from the future, although this could just be an ingenious way to convince her they should be dating.
SERIES PREMIERE Human Planet, 8 p.m., Discovery A six-parter following up Planet Earth and Life. Because at the rate humans are going, pretty footage will be all we'll have to remember this stuff by.
MINISERIES PREMIERE Upstairs Downstairs, 9 p.m., PBS A reboot of the 1970s drama about a couple who hire a maid to run the house. This one is on the list mostly just to remind my mom it's on.
SERIES PREMIERE The Judds, 9 p.m., OWN The fact that Ashley is excluded from this chronicle of Naomi and Wynonna on the road may explain that scathing memoir she just released.
The Comedy Awards, 9 p.m., Comedy Central The funny people you see during the week will be on during the weekend, and Eddie Murphy will get a Comedy Icon award. So, it's a little more watchable than a series about the Judds or a British period drama.
