On TV this weekend
SERIES PREMIERE Mistresses, 8 p.m., BBC America Four women in their 30s get lots of nookie. Kind of like Sex and the City or Desperate Housewives, but with attractive stars.
Friday Night Lights, 9 p.m., NBC Tonight's lesson: It's okay to haze the new guy — he'll just laugh it off, and win football games for you, to boot.
SEASON FINALE Monk, 9 p.m., USA Monk has to deal with city officials. Get ready for a homicide.
SEASON PREMIERE Real Time With Bill Maher, 10 p.m., HBO No matter how insufferable he seems, Maher is still funny enough to stay on the tube.
SERIES FINALE Late Night With Conan O'Brien, 12:35 a.m., NBC It only took Conan 2,724 shows to move up an hour so we can actually see him before we pass out each night, but we hear he was funny. We'll see come June 1 when he takes over The Tonight Show.
The 2009 Film Independent's Spirit Awards, 5 p.m., IFC For all you disaffected hipsters who don't care about the commercialized Oscars. And plan to go out drinking tonight.
Taking Chance, 8 p.m., HBO Kevin Bacon puts on a Marine officer's uniform once again (see A Few Good Men) to escort a fallen comrade's body to a small Wyoming town. He really is connected to everyone.
The 81st Annual Academy Awards, 8:30 p.m., ABC You could see the serious picks on Pages 32-33, or lighten the mood with The Juice* on Page 56, but either way, we're betting you're going to sit through this Big Poppa of awards shows. At least, the wife will be, just to see Hugh Jackman.
SEASON PREMIERE Storm Stories, 8 p.m., Weather Or maybe you prefer watching trailer parks get destroyed. We don't know.
