TV and Media

On TV this weekend, June 14-16

FRIDAY

SEASON PREMIERE Magic City, 9 p.m., Starz James Caan, Esai Morales, Jamie Harris and Sherilyn Fenn join the cast just as Jeffrey Dean Morgan's wife and son learn about his partners after he gets arrested. Just so long as they don't know about the Katherine Heigl thing on Grey's Anatomy.

Treehouse Masters, 10 p.m., Animal Planet The owner of an Austin, Texas, spa resort wants to build treehouse units. That's pretty relaxing, unless you're afraid of heights.

Mystery Diners, 10 p.m., Food Cooks are battling a bartender who keeps bringing wild animals into work. Well, we can think of one way the kitchen can solve that problem.

SEASON FINALE Vice, 11 p.m., HBO Remember Dennis Rodman's trip to North Korea? Time to watch the home movies.

SATURDAY

AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Mel Brooks, 9 p.m., TNT We think surprisingly little of this honorific will include a comparison of his son Max's book World War Z with Brad Pitt's new movie adaptation. Shame.

Zero Hour, 8 p.m., ABC We remember what could have been with the last two episodes of Anthony Edwards' canceled series. Speaking of ER alums …

Notes From Dad, 9 p.m., Hallmark Eriq La Salle directs a weepy yarn about a jazz musician who is now a high school music teacher. Yeah, men get these movies made for them, too.

SUNDAY

The 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, 8 p.m., HLN For those of you who don't have jobs or work nights, please tell us how these work out.

SEASON PREMIERE Masterpiece Mystery!: Inspector Lewis, 9 p.m., PBS A psychic who was a psychology fellow at Oxford ends up dead. You'd think he would have seen it coming.

SEASON PREMIERE True Blood, 9 p.m., HBO Pam is getting the limelight much more than she used to. Check out the interview with Kristin Bauer van Straten on Page 32 for more about why.
