On TV tonight

SEASON PREMIERE Wipeout, 8 p.m., ABC Yes, another season of people getting hit in the groin in new and interesting ways. Hey, Lady Gaga doesn't have a monopoly on that sort of thing, you know.

SEASON PREMIERE HawthoRNe, 9 p.m., TNT Christina has to move to a failing hospital and immediately gets into it with the head ER nurse. As if there weren't enough challenges at Richmond Trinity.

SERIES PREMIERE Downfall, 9 p.m., ABC Chris Jericho hosts a game show where contestants must answer trivia questions or their loot, family and friends could go off the side of a high-rise. What could go wrong?

SERIES PREMIERE Memphis Beat, 10 p.m., TNT Jason Lee stars as a detective who infuriates Alfre Woodard. We give it six weeks, eight, tops.

SEASON PREMIERE Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel, 10 p.m., HBO Bryant interviews the men's national soccer team about racist taunts they've heard on the road to the World Cup. We wouldn't go saying stuff like that to 6-foot-4 defender Oguchi Onyewu.
