For the second week in a row, a bay area resident was voted off American Idol.
Tampa resident Shannon Magrane, 16, was eliminated Thursday, just one week after Jeremy Rosado of Valrico was booted.
The judges praised Shannon, a sophomore at Blake High School, for her rendition of One Sweet Day, a Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men ballad, but it was the second week she landed near the bottom.
"It feels so good standing on this stage," she said Thursday after the judges refused to save her. She was one short of making the Top 10 finalists, who get to go on tour.
The surprise was that anybody was booted at all. On the show Wednesday, Jermaine Jones was shown the door -- not for his singing, but because he had four active warrants against him. The buzz was that maybe Jones would count as the elimination for the week.
Shannon, who at 6 feet towered over host Ryan Seacrest, got attention early in the season when judge Steven Tyler made a lecherous comment about her in front of her dad, baseball announcer Joe Magrane, when she auditioned in Savannah.
