Area reality TV fans who like to travel now have a chance to fulfill two dreams at once by appearing on an unscripted show about Southwest Airlines filming at Tampa International Airport.
Cable channel TLC brings production for its new unscripted show On the Fly to the airport starting today, filming until Monday and resuming again for four days on March 8.
The program, as described by early press accounts, sounds similar to the unscripted A&E series about Southwest, dubbed Airline, which aired in 2004 and 2005.
The new show is looking for Tampa Bay area passengers making a special trip or who may have a funny, unexpected or heartwarming story about traveling on Southwest. Interested fans can fill out a detailed questionnaire at myswatrip.com.
Southwest is the Tampa airport's largest carrier, providing more than one-third the market's share of airline travel, totaling about 68 flights daily, according to TIA.
The show has already filmed at airports in Baltimore, Denver, Chicago and Fort Lauderdale. It's expected to air later this spring.
