Top TV week of March 24: 'The Voice', 'New Girl', 'Surviving Jack'

MONDAY

The Voice, 8 p.m., NBC

Now that St. Pete native Jake Barker made it past the first round of battles, we're all in on this season. He's got the looks and voice of a Justin Timberlake, and we can see his silky falsetto taking him far. In fact, the Tampa Bay area is representing itself well this season, with Sisaundra Lewis, a powerhouse singer from Polk County who made it to the next round last week with Team Blake, and Team Adam's Josh Kaufman, who was born in Sarasota. Keep an eye out for him this week.

TUESDAY

Wild Things With Dominic Monaghan, 10 p.m., BBC America

Dominic Monaghan (Lost) stars in this travel-adventure series, starting its second season tonight, in which he explores remote corners of the globe in search of slithering and crawling creatures. Um, remote corners? As in, mystical islands full of native Others only accessible by mysterious plane crashes? Dude, watch out for polar bears and smoke that has a mind of its own.

New Girl, 9 p.m., Fox

Alexandra Daddario (Woody Harrelson's mistress on True Detective) guest stars as the group's new neighbor, because New Girl is apparently no longer capable of doing an episode that doesn't feature a guest star.

WEDNESDAY

Suburgatory, 8:30 p.m., ABC

Oh how we cherish this strange, sweet show. It's one of the weirdest sitcoms on TV, and that is most definitely a compliment. This week's episode continues to follow Lisa's (Allie Grant) desire to propose to her high school BF Malik (The Wire alum Maestro Harrell), which no one is sure how to handle.

THURSDAY

Surviving Jack, 9:30 p.m., Fox

Longtime Law & Order stalwart Christopher Meloni tries his hand at comedy in this new sitcom about a doctor who becomes a stay-at-home dad when his wife (Rachael Harris) decides to go to law school. Oh, and for some reason it's set in the '90s. We hope it has more on its mind than stereotypical Mr. Mom shenanigans, but frankly, we like Meloni and Harris enough to give this plenty of chances to impress.

Inside the Actors Studio, 8 p.m., Bravo

The slow How I Met Your Mother Goodbye Parade includes this episode of Inside the Actors Studio, in which James Lipton chats up the cast about everything from the cockamouse to the Bro Code before HIMYM's series finale next week. You know how Ted, Barney, Robin, Lily and Marshall are one of the best ensembles on TV right now? Well, the actors who play them — Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel — are equally delightful and entertaining. Plus, we hear Smulders and Hannigan kiss, fulfilling the dreams of Lily-Robin 'shippers everywhere!
