TV week

SEASON PREMIERE The Voice, 8 p.m., NBC: New judges Shakira and Usher help NBC roll out its revolutionary new "All The Voice, all the time" format.

Castle, 10 p.m., ABC: Castle and Beckett investigate a body found inside an industrial cake mixer. Yet another casualty of America's ever-escalating cupcake wars.

SERIES PREMIERE Lava Chasers, 8 p.m., Weather: Studying volcanoes in Hawaii sounds more fun than hauling cargo through the icy Arctic. But not by much.

Cougar Town, 10 p.m., TBS: If an old woman agreed to buy your house in exchange for you hanging out with her, would you do it? We would if the lady was Shirley "Mama Partridge" Jones.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, 9 p.m., NBC: The Walking Dead's Lauren Cohen guest stars as a sports reporter who accuses a cameraman of stalking and raping her. A glutton for onscreen punishment, that Lauren.

Nashville, 10 p.m., ABC: Rayna goes on a P.R. blitz about her marriage, giving an interview to guest star Katie Couric. Also guest starring in this episode? Wyclef Jean. You know, country music legend Wyclef Jean.

Archer, 10 p.m., FX: We'd like to believe this episode, dealing with a plot to assassinate the pope, was ripped from last week's Vatican-obsessed headlines. But it probably wasn't. South Park's the only show that can do that.

Scandal, 10 p.m., ABC: Hollis Doyle recruits Olivia and company for help when his daughter is kidnapped. Doesn't the word "scandal" seem a little light for something like that?

Happy Endings, 8 p.m., ABC: Let's hope this witty sitcom's move to Fridays doesn't signal its own (un)happy ending.

Tanked, 9 p.m., Animal Planet: The guys visit St. Leo University in Pasco County to build a lionfish aquarium. Because their mascot is the lion, you see. Shouldn't they build a lion cage instead?
