Watch this: TV week of Dec. 2

MONDAY

A Charlie Brown Christmas, 8 p.m., ABC

Vince Guaraldi's jazzy score. That scrawny little tree. Linus' speech. The existential crises of Charlie Brown. The most infectious dance sequence ever to appear on television. Who can resist this Peanuts classic?

CMA Country Christmas, 9 p.m., ABC

Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles hosts this special for the fourth time, featuring a bunch of country stars performing holiday songs and sharing their traditions. Stars like Hunter Hayes, Trace Adkins, Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow, Kellie Pickler and Duck Dynasty's Willie Robertson. Because what's a singing special without someone from the cast of Duck Dynasty?

WEDNESDAY

Christmas in Rockefeller Center, 8 p.m., NBC

The annual tree lighting extravaganza in Rockefeller Center celebrates 81 years kicking off the Christmas season. Sorry to break it to you guys, but you're a little late — that house at the end of our block has been decorated for weeks.

Kirstie, 10 p.m., TV Land

Kirstie Alley's new show debuts on TV Land tonight with back-to-back episodes. Michael Richards and Alley's erstwhile Cheers co-star Rhea Pearlman also pop up. Man, what a depressing reminder about the employment status of sitcom stalwarts of the '80s and '90s. Thanks a lot, TV Land.

SNL Christmas, 9 p.m., NBC

Instead of coming up with new holiday content, Saturday Night Live is compiling a bunch of its greatest Christmas sketches for this special. With Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg singing about their, ahem, packages, we'll definitely have a blue, blue Christmas.

THURSDAY

The Sound of Music Live!, 8 p.m., NBC

We're thoroughly confused by the whole idea of this apparently live production of the original three-hour 1959 Broadway show The Sound of Music, starring, for some reason, Carrie Underwood as Maria and Stephen Moyer (currently vamping it up on True Blood) as Captain von Trapp. Huh? We can let that slide though, because the rest of the cast list reads like the seating chart for the Tony Awards: Broadway vets Audra McDonald (a FIVE-time Tony winner), Laura Benanti, and Christian Borle are all on board.
