SEASON FINALE Hostages, 9 p.m., CBS

We haven't watched this show since the premiere, in which Dylan McDermott held Toni Collette's family hostage and coerced her into operating on (and killing) the POTUS. In tonight's two-hour season finale, Ellen (Collette) prepares to operate on the president, while Duncan (McDermott) ... wait, what? We didn't miss a single thing? Terrific!

SEASON PREMIERE Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-Off, 9 p.m., Food

This foodie competition lead by mentors Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri is back for its third season, with a celebrity lineup full of Dancing with the Stars leftovers: Florence Henderson, Penn Jillette, Tiffany, Chris Kattan, Vanilla Ice, The Bachelor Jake Pavelka and former NFL star Herschel Walker. Sure, Mrs. Brady, you can salsa, but can you make it?

The 40th Annual People's Choice Awards, 9 p.m., CBS

Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs of 2 Broke Girls host this year's awards honoring top performers in movies, music and television. Normally we'd dismiss such an arbitrary contest, but Jennifer Lawrence won in THREE categories last year (Favorite Movie Actress, Favorite On-Screen Chemistry, Favorite Face of Heroism), so they must be doing something right.

The Taste, 8 p.m., ABC

This cooking show returns for a second season, pitting 16 culinary competitors ranging from home cooks to professional chefs against each other. The gist? They have to prepare a single spoonful for a blind taste test by judges Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre and (new this year) Marcus Samuelsson, who then have to decide who will go home without knowing who made what dish. So kind of like The Voice, but with chefs.

The Michael J. Fox Show, 9:30 p.m., NBC

Richard Kind guest stars in this new episode as mobster Jared Norwood, the subject of a story that Michael J. Fox's character gets scooped on. It's the Spin City reunion show nobody asked for!

71st Annual Golden Globes, 8 p.m., NBC

The smartest programming decision NBC has made in years was to bring back BFFs Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to co-host the Globes for the second time in a row. Last year's show was the most fun we've had during an awards show, maybe ever, and that's totally thanks to Tina and Amy. Next step? World domination!
