Bullock gives $1M for Japan
Leave it to an actor sympathetic to the plight of New Orleans' Hurricane Katrina victims to donate a bundle for Japan: Sandra Bullock has given $1 million to the American Red Cross to help the earthquake and tsunami victims. "This contribution is vitally important as the Red Cross works to provide critical assistance and essential relief items in this time of urgent need for so many people in Japan," the organization told CNN. It said other big-name stars may have made big donations, but they may have done so anonymously. The group has pulled in $47 million since last Friday's disaster. Those $10 donations via text message have raked in $2.6 million alone.
Mel's new mug shot
Mel Gibson was back at the police station Wednesday night, getting booked at the El Segundo, Calif., Police Department to be processed for his criminal battery case. His latest booking photo doesn't seem so bad — especially compared with his old, crazy Malibu DUI pic. Gibson was sentenced to 16 hours of community service and 52 weeks of counseling, as well as 36 months of informal probation for pleading no contest to hitting former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. He had a week from last Friday to show up for booking, which involved a new mug shot.
Joe Jonas, Ashley Greene split up
Now that Joe Jonas is embarking on a solo career, he had to get rid of more baggage than just his two brothers. The singer and Twilight actor Ashley Greene have broken up, Us reports. Maybe he just got tired of dating an older woman. "We can confirm they both have parted ways and have no further comment," reps told the mag. A source told Us that things have been rocky since they started dating last summer: "They broke up shortly before her birthday, then got back together." But Jonas, 21, did a lot of planning for Greene's 24th birthday bash, so things settled down. It's really bad timing, publicity wise, since Joe is all smiles in a new Details interview, going on and on about how great Ashley is and how he met her folks in Jacksonville. His exes Demi Lovato, Camilla Belle and Taylor Swift are probably all nodding knowingly.
