MacGillivray Freeman Films is the most dependable brand in IMAX documentaries after two dozen films, including Everest and last year's Hurricane on the Bayou.

The company's latest effort, Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk (not rated, probably G), continues the tradition of magnificent sights for eyes and environmental values for minds. Any movie narrated by Robert Redford and featuring a Kennedy is expected to urge saving whatever corner of the planet is in question.

Robert Kennedy Jr. is part of a river rafting expedition down the canyon's Colorado River; Redford explains the drought crisis threatening this national landmark. Archival photographs compared with modern aerial photography show erosion and new vegetation ruining the river for wildlife and explorers.

Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk wasn't screened by a St. Petersburg Times critic. The film opens Friday at the IMAX Dome Theater at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa.
