Man's best friend hits the big screen, super powers and all, in Bolt, Disney's newest addition to its collection of animated family films.
Bolt (voice of John Travolta) stars in a TV series in which he saves his owner, Penny (Miley Cyrus). After an episode goes wrong, he accidentally gets shipped across the country. Little does he know that his super powers are useless in the real world and he must learn the difference between reality and fiction.
With the help of his new friends Mittens (Susie Essman) and Rhino (Mark Walton), Bolt embarks on the ultimate adventure: to find his best friend and the true dog he never got a chance to be.
Overall, the movie was superior. I was expecting another cheesy animated flick that ends up in the back of Blockbuster, but this movie will make you laugh — and cry.
Bolt tended to drag a little bit in the beginning, but it recovered quickly when the story line picked up the pace.
I would recommend this movie for anyone 5 years of age and older, simply because younger kids might get restless and maybe a little scared. The movie is rated PG for some mild action and peril; some scenes may be a little intense (like explosions). Most kids would probably like the movie and go home expecting a super bark out of their dog.
