Channing Tatum planning 'Magic Mike' encore

Magic Mike's male stripper club Xquisite could be re-opening for business, according to its star and former Tampa resident Channing Tatum. "Yes, yes and yes!" Tatum told Glamour U.K. when asked about the possibility of a Magic Mike encore. "We're working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger." Tatum's co-star Joe Manganiello offered this tantalizing hint to "We're actually talking about the possibility of doing the prequel. Because if you do the sequel then you lose Mike (who we last saw quitting the male revue business).... so you would do the prequel, how they got there." On Tuesday Magic Mike passed the $80 million mark in domestic box office receipts. It's too early to guess if Tatum as producer would push to bring production to Tampa Bay again. After all, Cocoon: The Return was filmed in Miami and called it St. Petersburg, after shooting the Oscar winning original here. The roll Tatum's career is on lately suggests he'll be able to do whatever he wishes, if the idea comes to fruition. — Steve Persall, Times movie critic
