Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher think they can have sex without a relationship in No Strings Attached. Makes perfect sense.

New movie this week

No Strings Attached

The gist: Natalie Portman decides to temper all that Oscar talk by starring in a movie about two friends in their 20s who decide they can have sex with each other whenever they want and not get jealous or have any expectations or real affection. Yeah, that always works out. R

The cast: Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Kline, Greta Gerwig, Cary Elwes and Lake Bell.

The buzz: It's a schizophrenic, predictable rom-com, which could be good or bad, depending on how you feel about those sorts of things. "This genial if overlong romantic comedy bounces along on a steady stream of amusing moments, even as it presents the most polished and predictable version of a scenario that cries out for greater verbal and visual candor," Variety says. That's a surprisingly verbose examination of a goofy sex romp.
