Sarasota's Cine-World Film Festival lineup offers films gaining awards season momentum

The 21st annual Cine-World Film Festival in Sarasota on Nov. 5-11 has announced its lineup, dotted with films gaining awards season momentum after recent showcases in Toronto, Telluride and Venice. This year's Cine-World selections include Danny Boyle's true-life adventure 127 Hours starring James Franco; Darren Aronofsky's psychological thriller Black Swan; the sexually charged Blue Valentine; Nicole Kidman, right, as a grieving mother in John Cameron Mitchell's Rabbit Hole; and Welcome to the Rileys, with Kristen Stewart playing a New Orleans stripper. Hosted by the Sarasota Film Society, Cine-World is purely focused on movies, without those pesky parties interfering like other festivals, and Burns Court Cinema, 506 Burns Lane, is one of Florida's finest venues for movies outside the mainstream. Times film critic Steve Persall gives you the lowdown on 31 of this year's Cine-World selections, including synopses, show dates and times, and ticket information on his Reeling in the Years blog (tampabay.com/blogs/movies).
