Sea Breeze Film Festival brings the offbeat to Gulfport

Sea Breeze Film Festival: The arts community of Gulfport won't be left out of the ever-expanding film festival loop, offering a weekend of offbeat cinematic works.

The lineup is courtesy of Nomadic Tendencies, an independent film group that brought a similar schedule to Beach Theatre earlier this year (and reportedly didn't sell many tickets).

Twenty-six features, shorts, documentaries and student films are included in the Sea Breeze lineup, with all screenings at Catherine A. Hickman Theater, 5501 27th Ave S. Shows begin at 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday, with complete details of the films available at

You probably won't recognize the titles and filmmakers. Nomadic Tendencies specializes in works so far on the fringe that they're practically lint. That doesn't mean they're not worth viewing, but it'll be an adventure.

Tickets are reasonably priced: $12 per day, $7 for single screenings and $30 for a weekend pass. Children, military, students and seniors pay $5 per show. Seating is limited. Tickets are available at the door, or at
