Southeastern Film Critics Association names 'Argo' the best picture of 2012

The Southeastern Film Critics Association has chosen Argo as 2012's best picture, as part of a Top 10 list that also includes Zero Dark Thirty, Lincoln, Moonrise Kingdom, Silver Linings Playbook, Beasts of the Southern Wild, The Master, Les Misérables, Life of Pi and The Dark Knight Rises. It's another movie awards list, following the Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe nominations last week, on the way to the Oscars ceremony on Feb. 24. Other top picks from the Southeastern Film Critics Association included Daniel Day-Lewis as best actor for Lincoln, which also won the best ensemble award; Jennifer Lawrence as best actress for Silver Linings Playbook; a best supporting actor nod for Philip Seymour Hoffman in The Master; and Anne Hathaway as best supporting actress for Les Misérables. For Argo, Ben Affleck beat out runner-up Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty) for the best director prize. The group's 21st annual balloting includes film journalists from nine Southern states.
