The Indian adventure film Dasavatharam spans space and time.

Dasavatharam (not rated, probably PG-13) (150 min.) — The first in a series of Indian films planned for limited Central Florida release isn't what you might expect. Rather than a spiritual drama or Bollywood lark, Dasavatharam is reportedly an epic science fiction adventure spanning centuries and continents.

Kamal Hassan, star of 151 movies in his homeland, portrays 10 characters, ranging from a 12th century priest to President George W. Bush. The well-guarded plot linking these diverse characters concerns a devastating tsunami created by the chaos theory of domino disaster. Maxim cover girl Mallika Sherawat and Indian starlet Asin co-star.

Reportedly the most expensive Indian film production ever, the first three minutes of tsunami special effects should prove interesting.

Dasavatharam, with English subtitles, will be shown at 9 tonight and at 4, 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday at Muvico Centro Ybor 20. Following Indian theater custom, there will be an intermission at each screening, allowing two theaters to stagger three showings.
