After five years as the Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa's 20,000-seat shed on the Florida State Fairgrounds will get a name change on Thursday. Reps for Live Nation Inc., which owns the venue, aren't confirming or denying the switcheroo, but select members of the press were sent invitations that cordially invited them to the winkingly generic "Live Nation's Amphitheatre" for a major announcement. The name change had been expected for some time. In May 2009, original sponsor Southern Ford Dealers decided not to renew its $775,000-a-year deal. Live Nation won't reveal the joint's new moniker, or if there might be a deep-pocketed new rights holder. But seeing as how this is Tampa, we wouldn't be surprised by either the Hooters House of Rock, Joe Redner Coliseum or Jeter Live!
