A curious fact about Muse: They've already played Tampa twice. Once, they opened for My Chemical Romance at the St. Pete Times Forum; another time, they opened for U2 at Raymond James Stadium.
But as the hypertalented alt-rock trio has grown to become one of the biggest, most bombastic alt-rock groups in the world, they've yet to grace us with a headlining show.
Come February, that'll change. Fresh off this weekend's performance on Saturday Night Live, Muse have announced a concert on Feb. 23 at the Tampa Bay Times in Tampa, the latest in a string of high-profile concerts coming to the venue (i.e. Pink, Lady Gaga, Rihanna). Dead Sara will open the show.
Muse is known for outsized, ambitious prog-rock epics that can only fully be appreciated in an arena (Uprising, Supermassive Black Hole, Time Is Running Out), though singer-guitarist Matt Bellamy, fiance to actress Kate Hudson, sent his soaring vocals in a more electronic direction on new album The 2nd Law.
Tickets are $32.25, $52.25 and $62.25, and they go on sale Friday.
