The Pinellas Youth Symphony is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a gala concert featuring all of its ensembles at 3 p.m. Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall. A reception will follow for alumni and friends of the organization. Admission is $10; call the Ruth Eckerd ticket office at (727) 791-7400.

Sunday's program includes the premiere of Pinellazartian Overture (partly inspired by three works of Mozart), commissioned by the symphony from St. Petersburg composer Mark Sforzini and conducted by Susan Robinson. The symphony is gearing up for a 12-day concert tour by its senior-level musicians to Italy and Austria in June. For information, contact the symphony at (727) 438-3149 or online at www.pysmusic.org.
