Blues guitarist Jimmie Vaughan at Ron Paul RNC rally, John Popper at party

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul may be a longshot in the upcoming presidential election, but he has our vote for the GOPer with the coolest taste in music. Blues guitarist Jimmie Vaughan, brother of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, will be the musical headliner at Paul's We Are the Future rally at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa on Aug. 26 during the week of the Republican National Convention. The rah-rahing will go from noon to 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome, and tickets are free, but you have to register at eventbrite.com to get a chance to see Vaughan, one of the great underrated bluesmen, pick his signature Tex-Mex Stratocaster. Later that night, Vaughan and Blues Traveler's John Popper will join Paul at Ferg's Bar and Grill in St. Petersburg for a Liberty Rock After-Party. That will be a much more exclusive party, however.
