After the Tampa Bay Rays game Saturday, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert will unleash his glam, gender-blurring glitter rock at Tropicana Field as part of the Rays Concert Series. A concert is fun and all, but we wondered: What if the tongued one had some time to hang here? What would he do? Since Lambert's busy wearing tight pants and being famous, we planned an itinerary for him. Here are five ways to have a glam play day in Tampa Bay. — Stephanie Hayes email@example.com
Work it: International Plaza
If anyone knows how to work shimmer, it's MAC makeup artists. We suggest Lambert get gussied at MAC, then head to Regis Signature Salon and Spa for a shock of pomade. He could drop by Sephora for a pocket bottle of Harajuku Lovers perfume and fresh guyliner.
Time warped: Salvador Dali Museum
Lambert would appreciate the Spanish surrealist known for melting clocks and religious, sexual mind-bending trippiness. One trip through the St. Petersburg museum would leave him inspired to make new music. And the gift shop of crazy brooches and timepieces screams Lambert souvenir.
With glee: Performing arts high schools
This one is selfish. We want Lambert to stop by Blake High and the Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High to give the theater kids a thrill. After all, Lambert acted in productions of Wicked before American Idol. The students would geek out over his tips on how to reach a high C.
One of the crowd: Czar
Flavored vodka in ice shot glasses. Glossy, sexy young people coated in tattoos. All those ornate chandeliers and red dance-floor lights. Lambert would fit in perfectly at Ybor City's Czar. Plus, how cool would it be if he went to the DJ and said, "What Do You Want from Me?" Har!
HOT COUTURE: Wilson's Leather
On the way out of town, Adam should buy a few duds at Wilson's Leather in the Tampa International Airport. Most people like to ride airplanes in their comfiest sweatpants, but we suspect Adam rides in true sweaty style. Leather pants, peanuts and a neck pillow, please.
