Memorial Day weekend brings out the Americana for the Florida Orchestra's final pops program of the season. Leroy Anderson was one of America's greatest composers of light classical music — "concert pieces with a pop flavor.'' To mark the centennial of Anderson's birth, his Sandpaper Ballet, Bugler's Holiday, The Typewriter and other infectious tunes will be performed, Richard Kaufman conducting. Nelson Kole will play Anderson's Piano Concerto, and Daniel Rodriguez (right), the "singing cop,'' will be featured in America the Beautiful for the Friday and Sunday performances. Also on the agenda: Aaron Copland's music for the film Our Town and the Stars & Stripes Forever March. Concerts are at 8 p.m. Friday at Ferguson Hall of Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 1010 N MacInnes Place, Tampa; 8 p.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S, St. Petersburg; and 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 N McMullen-Booth Road, Clearwater.
