In 1981, Walkmans worldwide housed the pop-rock smash Jessie's Girl (which may be the only hit in history to successfully use the word "moot"). But did Rick Springfield fizzle out with the cassette tape? Not a chance.

Springfield, a.k.a. General Hospital's Dr. Noah Drake, has sold out the Hard Rock's new concert tent, a 700-person capacity venue built especially for this show. (With any luck, you may still be able to snag just-added tickets at the Seminole Hard Rock Retail Store, in-store only.)

Those lucky fans are in for quite a night. Springfield is a savvy showman who knows how to work his largely female fan base to a frenzy. Expect a marathon of hits you shouldn't have forgotten, including Don't Talk to Strangers, I've Done Everything for You and Love Somebody, the heart-thumping anthem from his 1984 big-screen stinker Hard to Hold.

If you can't catch the show, you can find Springfield-the-actor on reruns of Showtime's Californication series and soon at the bookstore; the 60-year-old is busy writing a tell-all memoir.

The show is at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Seminole Hard Rock and Casino, 5223 Orient Road, Tampa. $40. (866) 502-7529. For the retail store, call (813) 627-7620.
