Imagine Dragons drop out of Saturday's Next Big Thing

For more reasons than you can imagine, it pains us to write this. Imagine Dragons have been forced to withdraw from Saturday's 97X Next Big Thing lineup due to a throat infection on the part of singer Dan Reynolds. The Las Vegas group behind hits It's Time and Radioactive has been on the rise all year, and plenty of people were coming to Next Big Thing just to see them, so this is really a bummer. On Wednesday night, 97X posted a statement announcing the cancelation on Facebook: "In the middle of tonight's show in Norfolk, they had to stop their performance. … They've canceled a bunch of upcoming shows including Saturday's." The band is expected to release a statement soon, but we can tell you this is extremely last-minute. We spoke to Imagine Dragons bassist Ben McKee late Wednesday afternoon, and he was looking forward to Next Big Thing. — Jay Cridlin, Times Staff Writer
