MONDAY 8 p.m. Green Iguana, 9202 Anderson Road, Tampa. $40-$45. (813) 288-9076.
The whole "one DJ behind a table drawing crowds of 50,000-plus thing" — that's a Tiesto trademark. The Dutch DJ's chilling remix of Delerium's/Sarah McLachlan's Silence propelled him to international stardom in the early 2000s and took electronic dance to new heights. Tiesto brings more vocal trance tracks with sweeping arrangements and cathartic build-ups on this tour. Alongside Mark Ronson and Deerhoof, Tiesto is currently on the hot Maroon 5 remix collection Call and Response. And rumor has it, he's working with Activision on an electronic music version of Guitar Hero.
TUESDAY 8 p.m. Seminole Hard Rock and Casino, 5223 Orient Road, Tampa. $60. (813) 235-6937.
Pop-rock hitman and former Grateful Dead keyboardist Bruce Hornsby brings enduring tunes like mid-80s Mandolin Rain and The Way It Is. You may remember the latter from such works as 2Pac's 1998 hit Changes (which Hornsby has only good things to say about). Hornsby's piano work on Is This America? (Katrina 2005), a collaboration with Charlie Haden, Pat Metheny and Jerry Douglas, earned him a Grammy nomination this year.

New Years Eve Bash featuring Plies, Tom G, Rated R
WEDNESDAY 10 p.m. Club Underground, 802 E Whiting St., Tampa. (813) 857-5872.
Last week, tbt* gave you a look at a day in the life of 32-year-old Fort Myers rapper Algernod Washington, a.k.a. Plies (complete with shrieking teens and expensive shoes). This week, see how he rings in 2009. Tampa's Tom G. opens with tracks like I'm There, one of the biggest local singles of the year. And Rated R, well he isn't "even supposed to be in here tonight," but should be entertaining nonetheless with shock-style rhymes.
Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi
MONDAY 8 p.m. Tampa Theatre, 711 N Franklin Street, Tampa. $36.50-$56.50. (813) 274-8981.
The "Brangelina" of the Blues circuit — okay, maybe a stretch — Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi perform side-by-side as the Soul Stew Revival group. Backed by an all-star nine-piece ensemble, the couple combines slow-cooked slide riffs and tender vocals with jazz and jam seasonings. Fans can expect a mixture of material from both Trucks' and Tedeschi's repertoire, as well as songs prepared especially for this tour. Covers of Etta James, the Rolling Stones and John Coltrane have also been common on the set list.
