What is up with those ads for the new line of kids clothes from Beyonce's company? Nice red pumps — for a 6-year-old! Pink boa? Leopard-print hat? C'mon.
Plenty of people have their shorts in a twist over it: "Can't wait to see her line of thong bikinis for tots,'' is a comment on lilsugar.com, referring to Beyonce "Mrs. Jay-Z" Knowles. She co-owns the House of Dereon, which makes the clothing.
We don't need a psychologist to tell us that teaching our little girls about the power of sex appeal is dangerous. Just look at Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. Maybe next the tots will show up in an artistic photo for Vanity Fair.
If you look at the clothes themselves —- they're sold at Macy's and online at dereon.com — they might not look too bad. But its the ad for the kids line that has tongues wagging.
Beyonce, it's one thing to play dress up. It's quite another to tart kids up to make money.
